Principal Message

Dear Cougar Ridge Families,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year at Cougar Ridge Elementary, home of the Bobcats. It is with great excitement and gratitude that I welcome both our returning families and those who are new to our school community.

At Cougar Ridge, we believe that every child deserves to feel safe, valued, connected, and supported. Our staff is committed to creating an inclusive learning environment where students are known, cared for, and challenged to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

Strong partnerships between home and school are essential to student success. Throughout the year, we look forward to connecting with families through PTSA events, classroom activities, volunteer opportunities, and school celebrations. Your partnership helps strengthen the sense of belonging that makes Cougar Ridge such a special place for students and families alike.

As we begin the new school year, our focus remains on high-quality instruction, meaningful relationships, and ensuring every student receives the support they need to thrive. We will continue our work around equity, inclusion, and student-centered practices so that all students feel represented, respected, and empowered in our school community.

To help your family prepare for a strong start to the school year, please note the following important dates:

• Enrollment Verification Process (EVP): August 7-14
• Kinder Playground Nights 6-7:30pm:
  • Aug. 5 (Lewis Creek Park)
  • Aug.11 (Lewis Creek Park)
  • Aug. 26 (Cougar Ridge)
• Meet the Teacher: Wednesday, August 26 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
• First Day of School (Grades 1-5): Thursday, August 27
• Family Connection Meetings (Kindergarten): August 27 to September 1
• First Day of School (Kindergarten): Tuesday, September 1
• Curriculum Night:
  • Grades K and 1: Wednesday, September 2 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.
  • Grades 4 and 5: Wednesday, September 9 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.
  • Grades 2 and 3: Wednesday, September 16 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.
• Picture Day: Friday, September 18
• Picture Re-Take Day: Friday, October 29
• Parent-Teacher Conferences: November 4-5

Please be sure you are receiving both the Cougar Ridge and Issaquah School District weekly bulletins before the start of the school year. These communications will provide the most current information and important updates throughout the year.
