Principal Message

Dear Cougar Ridge Families,

Shaun Cornwall

Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year at Cougar Ridge Elementary, home of the Bobcats. It is with great joy that I welcome both our returning families and those new to our community.

At Cougar Ridge, we are committed to creating a school where every student feels safe, valued, and connected. Our staff is dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment that supports academic growth, social and emotional well-being, and a strong sense of belonging.

We know that student success is built through strong partnerships between home and school. Throughout the year, you will find many opportunities to engage with us, from PTSA events to classroom activities to volunteer opportunities. We encourage you to stay connected and involved.

Our team will continue to focus on high-quality instruction and on building a culture where every student can thrive. We are also committed to advancing our work around equity and inclusion, ensuring that all students and families feel welcome and represented in our school community.

To help you plan for a great start to the school year, here are some important upcoming dates:

Key Dates

  • Enrollment Verification Process (EVP): August 7-13
  • Meet the Teacher: Wednesday, August 27 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • First Day of School (Grades 1-5): Thursday, August 28
  • Family Connection Meetings (Kindergarten): August 28 to September 2
  • First Day of School (Kindergarten): Wednesday, September 3
  • Curriculum Night:
    • Grades K and 2: Wednesday, August 27 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.
    • Grades 1 and 3: Wednesday, September 10 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.
    • Grades 4 and 5: Wednesday, September 17 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.
  • Picture Day: Friday, September 19
  • Teacher Work Day (No school for students): Friday, October 17
  • Picture Re-Take Day: Friday, October 30
  • Parent-Teacher Conferences: November 12-13

Please be sure you are receiving both the Cougar Ridge and ISD weekly bulletins prior to the start of the school year. These communications will provide the most current and accurate information to help you stay informed and prepared.
