Free and Reduced Lunch Program

Returning students maintain their prior year’s free or reduced eligibility for the first 30 school days, OR until a new application is processed. If a returning student does not have a new application processed by Oct. 10th, 2024, they will automatically be transferred to a paid account. Families are responsible for any charges incurred.

United States citizenship or immigration status is not a condition of eligibility for free and reduced-price benefits, all school-aged children in income-eligible households can receive school meal benefits regardless of a child’s immigration status.

Technology Resources for Families who Participate in the Free and Reduced Lunch Program

Comcast/Xfinity now offers internet service for $9.95/month for families who participate in the National School Lunch Program (free and reduced lunch). Families should contact Comcast/Xfinity  or call Comcast at 1-855-846-8376.

 
ISD also offers free (surplused) desktop computers (and Windows/Office software) to families who participate in the National School Lunch Program (free and reduced lunch). Families should talk to their school counselor or a staff member.

Funding your student's lunch account is simple and may be completed online using your debit or credit card at MySchoolBucks.com. Your personal information and your debit and credit card information is protected by the most advanced internet security. Cash and checks are also accepted at your student's school.

MySchoolBucks.com

MySchoolBucks.com is a web-based service available in our district to fund your student's lunch account. Enrolling in the MySchoolBucks.com service is free and allows you to:

• Monitor your student's meal history for the previous seven days
• Receive email notification when your child's balance goes below $5.00
• See the balance in your child's account at the end of each day
• Make credit or debit card payments to your child's lunch account
• Use "Pay As You Go" to make payments when you choose
• Use "Smart Pay" to automatically fund your student's account when their balance reaches a certain limit
• Now available: Download the MySchoolBucks online meal payment app. Available through the Apple iStore and Google Play.

To Enroll

Go to MySchoolBucks.com and click SIGN UP FREE. Enter the guardian’s information to create the account before proceeding to the student information section. You will need your student's 7-digit District Identification number (not their 5-digit lunch number), their date of birth, school and grade. You can find your student's 7-digit District Identification number on Family Access or on your student's ASB card. You may also call the Food Service Office for the number. Monitoring your student's account activity is FREE. Credit and debit card transactions will be assessed a small convenience fee of $3.25 per transaction.

Instructions on how to access your student's lunch PIN number and account balance are now in Family Access. Account balance information is updated after 4pm daily. 

The Issaquah School District’s Food Service department strives to ensure the safest possible environment for all students. There are students in our district with a wide variety of life threatening food allergies including peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, etc. It is impossible to eliminate all food allergens completely from school meal programs due to the number of students we serve each day and the number of food sources we procure from each week. Although we do our best to be mindful of common food allergens on our menus there is always the potential for hidden ingredients, contamination of food where it is prepared and for manufacturers to change their product formulations without prior notice.

Actions that we are taking include:

• Peanuts have been completely eliminated as ingredients from all elementary menus. However some products may have been processed in a facility that also processes products that do contain peanuts listed as ingredients.*  Use of Peanuts In Elementary Kitchens
  *It is a voluntary practice for a food manufacturer to label their products as such.
• Students and parents may utilize the department’s digital menu to determine which of the top 8 allergens are present in each menu item.
• Issaquah School District nurses collect information about students with food allergies and share the information with the kitchen at each school. Kitchen staff do their best to not serve these students a food that they may be allergic to; however, with the number of students served every day it is essential for the student to avoid these foods as well.

Special Diet Requests

Special diet requests are reserved for students with disabilities that restrict their diet, not for students with food preferences. Please contact your school nurse for further information on requesting special dietary accommodations.

The Issaquah School District has adopted a  Local Meal Charge Policy outlining procedures for feeding students with lunch accounts that reach a negative balance.

Healthy schools produce healthy students. Healthy schools and school districts are those that support good nutrition and physical activity as part of a total learning environment.

The Issaquah School District adopted the Nutrition and Wellness Regulation (6700 and 6700P) and has taken steps to increase the nutritional value of school lunches. The District will establish guidelines for foods and beverages sold by the food service program and those sold in vending machines, snack bars, school stores, and school-sponsored fundraising events. Students will have opportunities for physical activity and appropriate exercise and accurate information on nutrition and wellness will be available.

An annual report will be posted each year to share basic information about the wellness policy and evaluate the progress of the schools within the district in meeting wellness goals. Click Here for the latest annual report.

The Washington State Summer Meals Program feeds kids and teens 18 years and under. Sites are located at places such as schools, parks and community centers. Resources for families:
